Quartz slabs come polished, or honed.   In addition chip size and color can also vary as well as veins.  Basic colors such as white quartz is very popular in apartment building kitchen countertops. The flexibility found in design with quartz cannot be found with natural-stone. Quartz can be installed without any visible seems because it can be held in place with epoxy instead of screws.  The durability of quartz is one of its greatest assets.  Quartz countertops are 93% natural quartz material t0 around 7% resin binder which helps make it extremely solid, dense, and durable. They are scratch resistant, however they are not indestructible. You can damage your countertops with extreme abuse, however normal use in the kitchen or bathrooms would certainly never scratch it or harm it in anyway.

Engineered quartz countertops resist corrosion and stains from household cleaning solutions, liquids, and oils. However, high heat can still damage quartz, and it can become discolored when exposed to direct sunlight for too long. Some common household cleaners contain chemicals that can actually loosen the bonds between the resins, polymers, and mineral pieces that are used to make quartz. It is best to use a cleaning product that is made specifically for quartz to ensure it does not have those harmful chemicals. Or for an even safer, more natural cleanse, use a gentle dish soap and warm water.
