Engineered quartz countertops rival the sophistication, design, and timeless appeal of real stone, minus the high maintenance. And because it’s man-made, you can create just about any custom look or design you want, although you will have seams instead of a nice slab like marble can provide.Quartz is manufactured by combining finely ground and naturally mined quartz and polymer resin, to create an incredibly hard material. These countertops are considered to be virtually impossible to destroy, especially with regular wear and tear. Unlike natural stone slabs, quartz slabs are engineered stone. The primary ingredient is about 93% ground quartz, combined with polyester resins to bind it and pigments for color or small amounts of recycled glass and flecks of metal for a veined or patterned look.

While quartz is stain resistant, it’s not dirt or dustproof. For you to maintain the shine, wipe it regularly with a damp cloth, then dry it with a microfiber cloth.Quartz is a non-porous material, which means you don’t have to worry about stains seeping through the surface of your new kitchen countertops. If you spill on your quartz countertops, simply blot away the stain with a damp washcloth and dry with a towel. Use cleaning products between pH 5-11 to avoid surface damage. To avoid dulling the surface's shine, make sure to use a non-abrasive cleaner, and rinse off any cleaner with water.
